November 1, 2024—Open Enrollment at the Massachusetts Health Connector starts today, giving Massachusetts residents the opportunity to enroll in affordable health coverage for 2025, including through the expanded ConnectorCare program, which delivers lower premiums and lower out-of-pocket costs to more members than ever before.
Anyone who needs health insurance—including people new to Massachusetts, participants in the Commonwealth’s growing gig and creative economies, and people who haven’t had health coverage in many months or years—can get covered through the Commonwealth’s state-based Marketplace, the Health Connector. Open Enrollment begins on Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 23. The deadline for coverage that starts Jan. 1 is Dec. 23.
“Everyone in Massachusetts should have health insurance that is not only affordable, but provides easy and low-cost access to health care, like annual checkups, specialized care, prescription medication, and emergency services when needed. During Open Enrollment, anyone who needs health insurance can find a plan that delivers those services and more, and can likely find help paying for it,” said Audrey Morse Gasteier, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Health Connector. “If you or someone you know needs health insurance, now is the time to come to the Health Connector, see what options are available, and enroll in coverage. Enrollees frequently report feeling relief after learning how affordable the coverage available to them is and being able to get the care they need.”
The Health Connector’s individual and family enrollment is at an all-time high, with more than 337,000 people enrolled in Health Connector coverage, and 84 percent of the membership (284,000) are in the Health Connector’s landmark ConnectorCare program. ConnectorCare uses state and federal financial subsidies to make coverage more affordable through lower premiums and co-pays, and the elimination of deductibles. ConnectorCare also provides no-cost prescriptions for chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. This year, the income limits for ConnectorCare were expanded, and for 2025 plans, an individual earning up to $75,300 and a family of four earning up to $156,000 can qualify for a ConnectorCare plan.
Massachusetts residents who need coverage can go to MAhealthconnector.org starting today to complete an application and see what coverage and plans are available. In-person help with the application and selecting a plan is available at more than 50 Navigator locations around the state. Navigators are trained, knowledgeable experts at finding health insurance for people in their communities and provide assistance in more than 30 languages. Residents can find a Navigator in their community by clicking the “Help Center” button at the top of the Health Connector’s homepage.
