This summer, the Health Connector is officially launching its formal Fellowship and Internship program. This program will offer practical professional learning opportunities to graduate and undergraduate students whose field of study relates to the mission of the Health Connector. Additionally, these fellowship and internship opportunities will enable students to work on projects of mutual interest to the student and the Health Connector.
Fellowship / Internship Trimester
Summer of 2025 (May to August)
- Students may also participate in a June to August internship or fellowship
Schedule Requirements
Schedule hours will vary depending on student availability, project requirements, and other factors. Here are the general schedule requirements:
- Fellowship Summer 2025: This is a part-time fellowship; fellows are expected to work approximately 20-40 hours per week
- Internship Summer 2025: This is a part-time internship; interns are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week
Team and Project Description
The following departments will host interns or fellows for the Summer of 2025 in participation of the Health Connector Fellowship and Internship Program:
Finance
- Finance Internship Project (undergraduate student opportunity)
- Accounting Internship Project (undergraduate student opportunity)
Legal Fellowship Project (Juris Doctor (JD) student opportunity)
Policy and Plan Management Project (both undergraduate and graduate applications are welcomed)
Communications
- Community Engagement Fellowship Project (graduate student opportunity)
- Community Assister Internship Project (undergraduate student opportunity)
- Communications Web Content Intern or Fellow Project (both undergraduate and graduate applications are welcomed)
Administration Fellowship Project (graduate student opportunity)
Operations
- Information Technology Internship Project (undergraduate student opportunity)
- Enrollment & Premium Billing Internship Project (undergraduate student opportunity)
Experience and Qualifications
- Graduate students must be enrolled in a master’s degree program that coincides with the Health Connector Fellowship offerings – or – Undergraduate students must have completed two years of academic study in a bachelor’s degree program that coincides with a Health Connector offered internship
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently on projects
- Strong MS Office Suite skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to build strong working relationships.
- Excellent technical writing skills to prepare outward-facing, publicly available analytical documents and reports and the ability to explain results accurately and concisely to both technical/non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Salary
- $25.00 per hour for undergraduate students
- $28.00 per hour for graduate students.

- The Health Connector is operating on a hybrid work arrangement, interested candidates should expect to conduct both in-office and remote work.

The Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority (Massachusetts Health Connector) is an independent public authority serving as the Affordable Care Act (ACA)-compliant marketplace for the Commonwealth. The organization is charged with providing subsidized and unsubsidized health insurance to individuals and small employers. The Health Connector also oversees policy development related to health care reform under both state and federal laws, as well as conducting public education and outreach about health care reform and coverage opportunities.
