The Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operations of internal IT systems which support core operational functions.   

Under the management of the Director of Infrastructure and Security, the Systems Engineer will work to continuously define and improve IT systems infrastructure strategy, direction, standards, and management of all network systems, including disaster recovery, security of systems, monitoring, performance, and storage. This role must ensure reliable operations both on-premises and in the Cloud.  

Responsibilities 

  • Optimize the performance of existing IT systems both on-prem and Cloud environments 
  • Install and update software applications and ensure they meet quality, security, and business requirements 
  • Manage and coordinate the implementation of new systems or processes to ensure a smooth transition 
  • Conduct research to identify new technologies that could improve existing operational and business needs 
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to other team members and teams to ensure that requested technologies align with the long-term IT vision and are feasible to support 
  • Maintain systems policies necessary to achieve compliance goals set by the Security and Compliance personnel 
  • Configure and implement automation monitoring and management of existing systems and processes 
  • Work closely with the Security and Compliance Managers to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to achieve the security and compliance goals to ensure systems comply with Federal and State regulations. 
  • Maintain good working relationships with our third-party vendors, while also holding them accountable for quality service and results. 
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on the evaluation of system and technology solutions presented by third party vendors to ensure they meet the standards set forth by the Health Connector.  
  • Maintain good working relationships with business associates at all levels of the organization.   
  • Support and participate in Disaster Recovery framework to ensure business continuity and preservation of IT systems 

Requirements 

  • Experience with managing systems in AWS and Microsoft Azure. 
  • Experience with hardware and software procurement and outsourcing agreements. 
  • Hands on experience maintaining internal networks that manage with a hybrid implementation, owning some solutions directly and outsourcing others to third parties and/or maintained through agreements with other agencies in the Commonwealth.  
  • Experience in building stakeholder relationships to guarantee a smooth enterprise IT presence. 
  • Proven record of accomplishment of executing through consulting teams and managing remote personnel to deliver on-time and within budget. 
  • Experience establishing service level agreements (SLAs) and operating level agreements in alignment with company objectives and customer needs. 
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and demonstrate effective communication in speech and writing 
  • Experience working in a data-driven and process-driven organization 
  • Strong analytical, computer and communication skills 

Education and Technical Skills Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience  
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of previous computer server experience which should include Windows Server Operating Systems and Storage Management

Salary: $115,000–120,000 per year
